Day 2 of the 40-day Saratoga racing season has an 11-race program that begins at 1 p.m. Five of the races will be run on turf and six on the main dirt track
The feature race of the day is the first Grade 1 of the season, the TVG Coaching Club American Oaks for 3-year-old fillies. The Coaching Club American Oaks carries a purse of $300,000 and is run on dirt at 1 1/8 miles. The six-horse field is led by Zo Impressive and Disposablepleasure, the first two finishers in the Grade 1 Mother Goose at Belmont Park.
Jockeys Ramon Dominguez and Alan Garcia are starting their day with mounts at Saratoga Race Course, then flying via private plane to ride in stakes races later in the afternoon at Delaware Park. They will complete their three-track day by riding in races in the evening program at Colonial Downs in Virginia. Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux is not riding at Saratoga Race Course today, but he will be on the flights with Dominguez and Garcia and will ride at Delaware Park and Colonial Downs.
