GOSHEN, N.Y. -- The 31st annual Great American Weekend kicks off in Goshen on Saturday. The festival, lasting through Sunday, is held in downtown Goshen at Church Park. There are 150 craft merchants, food vendors and local non-profits that are set up to cater to all ages.

Next door at the historic harness racing track, festival goers can enjoy horse races, as well as free admission this weekend to the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame next to the track. Organizers said the event may see its largest crowd ever.

"This is one of the biggest fundraising opportunities of the year. And as I said, we'll have 30,000 plus, people here today and hopefully tomorrow, so it should be a tremendous weekend for us," said Dan Connor, a Goshen resident.

"This is a very unique festival in that we raise a lot of money for not-for-profits so that not-for-profits can use those profits and put them back into the community through scholarships and programming," said Lynn Cione, Goshen Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

The production crew from an independent film locally shot and premiering next month was also at the festival to promote the film. The movie is called "Collar" and stars Tom Sizemore, Davide Patrick Wilson, and Rebecca Demornay.
