ALBANY, N.Y. -- "Tuesday, May 15th, to be Richard Harpham and Glenn Charles Day in the City of Albany to wish them much success on their upcoming journey."
Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings presented a proclamation to British expeditionary Richard Harpham and photographer Glenn Charles.
Jennings says is about recognizing the men's kayaking journey and also the importance of the Hudson River and the Erie Canal to both the City of Albany and the state of New York.
The kayakers started their expedition in Niagara Falls and will end their trip at the Statue of Liberty next week.
"This is a world class heritage area. World Class. Both Richard and I have kayaked and bicycled all over the world and without a doubt, what you have here needs to be told, needs to be shown, needs to be shared because it is truly a special place," Charles said.
The men are inviting fellow kayakers to take part in their journey.
