ALBANY, N.Y. -- The U.S. Department of Occupational Safety and Health has ordered Albany based CSX Transportation to pay more than $186,000 to a former employee.

The person was allegedly fired in retaliation for filing a safety complaint with OSHA's Whistleblower Protection Program.

According to OSHA, CSX fired the employee the day after receiving a copy of the complaint back in 2010.

The agency ordered CSX to pay the employee $100,000 in punitive damages and more than $86,000 in compensatory damages.
