A Capital Region favorite is finally open for the 2012 season. Owners and patrons of Jumpin' Jack's in Scotia say it's a highly anticipated opening after it closed early last summer because of Tropical Storm Irene. Our Megan Cruz reports.

SCOTIA, N.Y. -- Jumpin' Jack's is finally open for the season, after a very difficult closing last year due to Tropical Storm Irene.

"We had to do a lot to get here," said General Manager Mark Lansing Jr. "We spent probably 80 percent of the winter down here. Almost every day, someone was down here painting, rebuilding something."

"Very heartbreaking," said one customer from Glens Falls. "I never thought they would get back open after that."

But once they saw a sign go up announcing the March 29th opening, "we got here 20 minutes after 9 a.m."

Not nearly as early as when the first guy on line got here though…

"I've been standing here since 5:50 a.m.," said Glenville resident Michael Vedder. "It was cold!"

When we asked people what would possess them to get up so early for this opening, they told us one bite of anything off of Jack's menu is well worth the wait.

"Oh I love it here. I love the cheeseburgers. I look forward to it every summer," said Vedder.

"Hot dog and curly fries," said a customer from Scotia.

"The fish, we love it. They have the best fish!" said two customers from Glens Falls.

Lansing says it's for all these loyal customers that Jumpin' Jack's was determined to make a comeback, despite what Mother Nature dished out.

"To be back at this point where we can cook food and serve customers, it's a good feeling," said Lansing.
