MEET OUR HOST: LIZ BENJAMIN
Liz Benjamin joined YNN as the host of Capital Tonight in April of 2011 and is the driving force behind our effort to bring you the state’s most comprehensive political news and analysis as it happens. In addition to her role as anchor, Liz spearheads Capital Tonight’s blog, STATE of POLITICS – your one-stop resource for breaking political news from the Capitol, City Hall, and across New York State.
Liz comes to YNN’s political team with impressive journalistic credentials. Her experience as a political reporter covering New York State and City politics spans a decade and in that time Liz has built a reputation as a respected, tireless, no-nonsense reporter who knows the business from every angle. She joined the Capitol press corps as a reporter for the Albany Times Union in 1997 and launched that paper’s Capital Confidential blog. In 2007, she joined the New York Daily News, taking over primary responsibility for their blog, The Daily Politics. Under Liz’s leadership, both became “must-reads” for Capitol insiders, as well as other political reporters.
Liz joined the Capital Tonight team intent on creating a new brand of journalism; one that blends the most comprehensive televised political reporting and analysis with around-the-clock blogging as only Liz can do.
