BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. -- A Waterford man was convicted on charges that he raped a woman, intending to give her AIDS.

According to the Saratoga County district attorney, Samuel Serrano-Gonzalez, 28, was found guilty of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse for the incident that happened on June 9, 2011 in the Town of Waterford.

The DA said Serrano-Gonzalez, who knew he was HIV positive, was seeking revenge because the victim left him.

He is facing up to 32 years in prison when he is sentenced in May.
