ALBANY, N.Y. – There was an unusual arrival at the Albany International Airport Thursday. A seeing eye pony named "Cali" arrived with its blind owner.
Mona Ramouni, 28, says that Cali steers her through traffic, into stores, accompanies her to class and rides with her on the bus.
The miniature horse is in the Capital Region for another training session in Saratoga County.
Ramouni is unable to use a traditional seeing eye dog because of her Muslim heritage.
"I think that it's important to let people know that these can be great service animals, not that they will take over what dogs do, but people have options now," Ramouni said.
Cali also opens doors, fetches dropped objects and asks to go to the bathroom.
