HALFMOON, N.Y. -- State Police arrested three family members who are accused of animal neglect after more than 100 cats were found in a trailer in Halfmoon.
The investigation began after a local animal hospital reported that a kitten with severe medical issues was brought in for treatment by the owner and subsequently died at the hospital.
A search warrant was executed inside a trailer on Route 146 where 134 cats were found inside. The trailer has been condemned by code enforcement officials.
Arrested on Sunday were Arthur Millard, 53, Earl Millard, 26, and Mary Ryan, 61, for one count each of failure to provide proper sustenance - animal neglect - and one count each of failing to provide the animals with vaccinations.
State Police said the Millard men are father and son, and Ryan is the elder Millard's sister-in-law and the younger Millard's aunt. They were issued appearance tickets for Halfmoon Town Court.
