CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- Cities seem to be getting smarter. And the Capital Region is getting credit for being clever!

That's according to research done by the Lumina Foundation, which ranked the Albany-Troy-Schenectady area as number 9 in the country for "most educated."

According to the website SmartPlanet.com, 49 percent of adults 25-and-older in the Albany area have at least an associate’s degree.

At the top of the list, is Washington D-C, with over 54-percent. The national average is 40-percent. And for the first time ever, 30 percent of adults over 25 have at least a bachelor’s degree.
