SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Assemblyman and Union alum Jim Tedisco sent off the men's hockey team with a pep rally.
The Dutchmen are heading to Florida for their first appearance in the Frozen Four. Tedisco wished the team luck and also presented coach Rick Bennet with an official Assembly citation, showcasing all their victories and championships.
Junior forward Jeremy Welsh says he is eager to get to the Sunshine State and play some hockey.
"They are a good defensive team. They have good systems, kind of like us. It is going to be a tight game, but we are excited to get in there, get the emotions going and feel the intensity of the big event," Welsh said.
Union will face off against Ferris State Thursday afternoon and YNN will be there too. Sports Director Marisa Jacques is traveling with the team. Our coverage starts Wednesday with live coverage of the team's press conference from Tampa.
