SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady native has a chance to get her gourmet dog treats on the shelves at Wal-Mart.

Kelly Gugliuzza graduated from Schenectady Community College with a culinary degree and making bakery goods and cakes for people in the area.

She then created "Kanine Krunchies" and the gourmet dog treats first became a hit at Schenectady's Head to Tail pet wellness center. Now the business has expanded throughout Schenectady County.

Kanine Krunchies is now in the running of Wal-Mart's "Get on the Shelf" contest. The baker makes all the treats at home, with ingredients you very well could have in your own kitchen.

Gugliuzza said, “Yogurts, bananas, carrots, coconuts, peanut butter, and dogs all like it and its safe and healthy for your dog."

Marie DeBrokcy, Owner at Head to Tail said, “There’s not another baker in NY that can make this product, or does, it makes us more exclusive and give us something unique to offer our customers. "

To help support Kanine Krunchies, visit the "Get on the Shelf" website at www.getontheshelf.com or you can head to their Facebook page at Kanine-Krunchies Gourmet Dog Treats.
