SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- Ulster County residents celebrated Independence Day. The annual Fourth of July parade started at Saugerties High School and then made its way through the village before finishing at Cantine Field.

"Everyone celebrates how great it is to be an American. This is one of those moments we can really celebrate independence and remember those who fought to make sure we have this freedom," Ulster County Executive Mike Hein said.

"It means freedom of this state and eventually the rest of the country," Representative Maurice Hinchey said.

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties and the Saugerties Fire Department teamed up for the event.
