ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Albany County Legislator Phil Steck has announced his candidacy for the newly-drawn 110th Assembly District.

Steck made the announcement Thursday from the Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie.

Steck is currently in his fourth term in the county legislature and has served since 1999. He was also the former Democratic Party Chair in the Town of Colonie.

During the announcement, Steck talked about what you can expect from him as he ramps up his campaign.

"This campaign is going to be different. I will not shy away from tough and difficult issues. The voters of the 110th don't want a state political insider already be holding entrenched interests who will shy away from tough and difficult issues," Steck said.

The new 110th Assembly District will consist of the towns of Colonie and Niskayuna, as well as a portion of the City of Schenectady.
