NEW YORK STATE, N.Y. -- Nearly 3,200 tickets were handed out last week, as law enforcement agencies across the state participated in the second round of "Operation Hang Up."
In the Hudson Valley alone, more than 700 tickets were handed out across orange, Ulster, Putnam, Dutchess, Greene, and Columbia Counties by state police. That number does not include local law enforcement agencies.
Orange County had the most number of tickets handed out, with 280.The penalty of getting a ticket for texting and driving is three points on your license, and a $150 fine.
