NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Family and friends of Michael Lembhard cleaned up the City of Newburgh Saturday in his memory.

Lembhard was shot in killed by police in March, an incident that's sparked much debate across the area.

Most recently, city activist Omari Shakur has spoke on behalf of the Lembhard family.
The family is asking DA Frank Phillips to step down from the case.

Lembhard's family said police used unwarranted force in the shooting. Officers on the other hand, said the 22-year-old lunged at them with a knife.

Mayor Judy Kennedy has said she wants to create a better, more trustworthy relationship between residents and the City's police force.
