ALBANY, N.Y. -- Fishermen, women and children were bundled up and ready to catch some Trout on Monday.

Rensselaer Lake was stocked with 2,000 rainbow trout as part of the state's Free Fishing Day.

New York occasionally does this so that kids under 16 years old can fish without a license.

DEC Superintendent of Fish Culture Jim Daley said, "We brought them from a truck, the stocking truck from Van Hornesville Fish Hatchery. It's one of 12 hatcheries from across the state. We had 2,000 fish in that truck. All of the kids line up with buckets and got a chance to stock the fish. Everyone had a lot of fun doing that."

The event was held in Albany's "Six Mile Waterworks." The Waterworks park is a place where people can also hike and picnic for free.
