RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The Public Service Commission hosts its final round of public hearings on Orange and Rockland's proposal to increase rates.
Under the proposal, rates would increase by $31.4 million effective July 1st, an additional $6.5 million next July and $16.5 million in July 2014.
The company said there are several reasons for the increases, including covering changes in the cost of required work, increased property and other taxes, and costs for restoration of service following Tropical Storm Irene and last October's snowstorm.
Tonight's meetings will be held at 8:00 pm at the Ramapo Town Hall in Suffern.
