COLONIE, N.Y. -- The issue of putting a ShopRite grocery store in the Village of Colonie could be resolved today. The planning commission will place the issue on their agenda when they meet today.
ShopRite wants to put a store on Central Avenue, on the Otto Cadillac site. There's already a ShopRite in Niskayuna.
Ground has been broken on two more stores - one in Slingerlands and another in Albany.
The ShopRite on Central Avenue is almost complete. The OTB teletheater made way for the construction. At issue is whether the new store, which will be open 24/7, will cause too much noise and traffic.
Those in support of the project said it will bring much needed jobs to our area.
