SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Community members are tearing up the ice for a good cause in Saratoga Springs.
The Skate-A-Thon and Silent Auction is raising money for the family of Mark Woodcock.
The 13-year-old recently lost his battle with Leukemia. The event featured an open skate session, the annual coaches’ game, and a silent auction with items donated from local businesses.
Mark grew up in Greenfield and was a player in the Youth Hockey organization for many years.
Bruce Thompson , Saratoga Youth Hockey President said, “Mark lived to play hockey. He was a dynamic, intense hockey player. And he was a funny, regular, goofy old kid off the ice. And the family is very touched by the outpour of support."
Auction items included signed jerseys from Union College, RPI, The Albany Devils and Adirondack Phantoms, as well as a golf cart, and much more.
