LIBERTY, N.Y. -- An 18-month-old baby is killed in a car crash in Sullivan County.
State police said Willis Gamble, 27, was driving west on State Route 17, when he lost control of his car, swerving into a center median and side-swiping a bridge abutment before the car rolled over.
His son, 18-month-old Wilcere Gamble, was the only passenger in the vehicle.
The child was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He had been in a car seat at the time of the crash.
Cpt. Joseph Tripodo of the New York State Police said, “It is apparent that when the vehicle overturned the roof came down slightly and that’s what caused the infant’s death.”
Willis did not suffer any injuries.
Troopers don't know what caused the accident just yet. No charges have been filed.
