WATERVLIET, N.Y. –- Fire crews were called to battle a house fire at 1817 Fourth Avenue in Watervliet Monday morning.
Officials said that when they arrived, heavy smoke and flames spread to the building next door.
The frigid temperatures and wind made it difficult for firefighters, but crews were able to contain the fire quickly.
Watervliet Police Chief Ron Boisvert said, "We got it knocked down pretty quick, and, I think we were able to save both of these buildings. These conditions are not the greatest for fighting a fire. They did a good job."
Everyone made it out of the building safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
