COHOES, N.Y. -- As former Cohoes mayor John McDonald moves to the State Assembly, a new man with big plans for the city takes his place.

New Mayor George Primeau delivered his first State of the City Address on Wednesday. He says he's excited about everything happening in the city, including new shops downtown, a couple new luxury housing complexes and even a new brewery, set to take over the vacant Cohoes Armory.

Primeau says he's optimistic that even more can be done to improve the city.

Primeau said, “I was born and raised here in Cohoes and I love Cohoes. I started a business 29 years ago here in Cohoes and my family continues to run it and the thing is, I can't say enough about Cohoes. It's been good to me and I want to give something back.”

New luxury lofts are set to open soon and 18 of 42 apartments in the complex are already rented. It's the second new apartment complex along the river in the city.
