WILTON, N.Y. -- A multi-vehicle crash involving 20 to 30 vehicles shut down a part of the Northway for hours Saturday evening.

The crash happened on the southbound side of I-87 between exits 15 and 16, near Ballard Road, shortly after 5 p.m.

Police shut down the northbound side of the Northway immediately following the crash, but it was reopened shortly afterwards. The southbound side was reopened around 7:30 p.m.

State Police say there were no major injuries in the crash. They blame slippery roads for the pileup.
