ALBANY, N.Y. -- Some state workers will be able to get a bit of a reprieve from the new permit parking system in Albany.

The Office of General Services is making 1,000 spaces available in state owned lots for employees who work downtown. It's called the temporary parking assistance initiative.

The city now limits street parking to two hours for non-residents in several downtown neighborhoods. City officials say the free spots will be handed out to PEF and CSEA members based on seniority.

If you normally park on the street and now need a space, you can find information on how to apply on at http://www.ogs.ny.gov .
