GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA -- Pre-trial hearings begin today in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for several people accused of plotting the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others will appear in a military court at the US Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay. There will be four days of pre-trial hearings.

Among the issues to be discussed: so called CIA Black sites, secret overseas prisons where the men were held for years. Another issue is whether the government can monitor correspondence between the defendants and their attorneys.

The five men were arraigned back in May of last year in Guantanamo.

With the case bogged down with procedural motions, the trial itself may not get underway until next year, or possibly even later.
