COLONIE, N.Y. -- Colonie police say a man unintentionally left his one-year-old child in a car for about eight hours during the day on Thursday.

Police say a man forgot his child was in the backseat of his car, went into work for eight hours, then came back out and discovered the child.

Officers say the man called them when he made the discovery.

The father spent the evening talking with police, but was sent home.

At this time, he's not facing any charges. But a lieutenant with Colonie Police tells us the man could be facing charges in the future as the investigation is not complete.
