UPSTATE NEW YORK -- This was the scene in the Senate chamber at the Capitol in Albany as the newest Senator was sworn in.

Cecilia Tkacyk took the oath of office after being declared the winner in the 46th District race last week.

The Democrat had been locked in a tight battle with Republican George Amedore. She ended up winning by just 19 votes.

Now that it's all said and done, the newly-elected Senator says she's ready to get down to business.

"I'm here to represent everyone regardless of party affiliation and where you live. It's just important to know my door is open and if I can help you, I will," Tkaczyk said.

Tkaczyk said passing a minimum wage bill and campaign finance reform are among her top legislative priorities.
