Cruelty to animals and burglary guilty plea
ALBANY, N.Y. -- A Troy woman pleaded guilty to burglary and aggravated cruelty to animals.
Police say Khadijah Hopkins, 26, burglarized a home in Colonie and then set it on fire back in November. They say she knew the resident who lived there.
Police say the person's dog was locked in a cage in the living room and later died.
Hopkins was originally facing arson and petit larceny charges in addition to burglary and aggravated cruelty to animals. She is expected to receive eight years in prison when she is sentenced in March.
