Six illegal fire arms arrests made in the last week in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany Police Department has made six illegal fire arms arrests last week alone and nearly everyone who was arrested faces more than one weapons charge.
Police say their first arrest happened on January 6th on south Pearl Street. Officers say Willie Morris tried to run away from police and threw a loaded gun away before being arrested. The gun was reported stolen back in September of 2011 to police in Florida.
On January 7th, police recovered two handguns inside a vehicle Carsen Eckhardt of Rutland, Vermont was driving after a traffic stop near Washington Avenue and Dove Street.
On January 8th, Albany police found an illegal handgun as part of an ongoing investigation and arrested Willie Hartfield, 62.
On January 9th, police arrested Yessenia Vasquez after responding to a disturbance.
They found a .22 caliber assault rifle in the home with two fully loaded magazines.
And on January 10th, police arrested Jahaad Heath and Aaron Jeffrey. The two were taken into custody for their alleged part in a number of armed robberies in the City of Albany.
All six were arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court.
