No charges filed in connection to Maplewood Manor death

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Saratoga County District Attorney’s office says no charges will be filed in connection to the death of a Maplewood Manor resident.

Carlton Decker, 85, was found around 1:30 a.m. on December 22nd. An autopsy showed he died of a heart attack.

Early on, investigators thought Decker went out the window of his room on the second floor, onto a lower rooftop and then dropped into the courtyard. However, the DA's office says an autopsy disproved that theory. They also say Decker likely knew the access code to the unit's locked doors.

District Attorney Jim Murphy says based on the investigation by the Ballston Spa Police Department, along with the state Department of Health, there is no basis for a criminal charge.
