Route 22 back open after standoff

By: Web Staff

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- A Hoosick man is in what police refer to as grave condition at Albany Med following a standoff that shut down Route 22 for several hours on Monday.

State Police were responding to a domestic dispute call when they say Keith Gates, 44, barricaded himself inside the home.

Gates reportedly made several threats to police and himself as crisis negotiators tried to talk him out of the home. After several hours, police say they found Gates inside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. They have not said what led to the standoff.
