TROY, N.Y. -- RPI President Shirley Ann Jackson is resigning from the New York State Economic Development Council according to the Albany Times Union.

The council was created last year by Governor Andrew Cuomo to distribute money to groups throughout the state to stimulate the economy and create jobs.

According to the paper, Jackson announced her resignation as co-chair in a letter to fellow council members. She did not give a reason for her departure in the letter.

Her resignation takes effect on Monday.

This year, Capital Region projects were awarded just more than $50 million. That's less than anywhere else in the state.
