SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Saratoga Springs police officer charged with misdemeanor assault has resigned.

The Saratoga County District Attorney says Edward Braim was charged following an off duty incident outside of a bar in Saratoga Springs. Police say in November, he pushed a 41-year-old man into a parked car, causing injuries to the man's upper body.

Braim had been suspended without pay since then.

Special Prosecutor Kate Hogan says she received his resignation along with restitution for the victim.
