ALBANY, N.Y. -- Runners hit the streets of Albany in their Speedos Saturday for the sixth annual Santa Speedo sprint. Dozens lined Lark Street as participants weaved their way through downtown, spreading holiday spirit. It's all part of the annual Winter WonderLARK event.
Event-goers were also entertained by local musicians, a gingerbread funshop and a scavenger hunt. The Lark Street Business Improvement District hosts the annual event, and says it's their way of inviting those near and far to "the heart of Albany."
"It keeps getting bigger and bigger, it's a lot of fun, as you can tell there's just lots and lots of people here. It's a Lark Street holiday, and I live on Lark Street, so why wouldn't I be here!!" said Jeff Gritsabage, an Albany resident.
Craft vendors were also on hand and the local shops opened up their doors, hoping to lure in holiday shoppers. The Food Pantries for the Capital District collected canned goods.
