SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- After two schools within the Schenectady City School District were placed on lockdown this week following threats of guns inside lockers, the school Superintendent says they're working with behavioral experts to try to put an end to it.

On Monday, Central Park Middle School was put on lockdown and children were sent home after a message was found written on a bathroom stall. Superintendent Larry Spring says the incident required them to address protocol for responding to these situations at the end of the school day.

On Thursday, the Schenectady High School was put on lockdown for less than an hour when another message was found on a wall in the girls bathroom.

"You know, engaging some folks who have much more experience with kids and these kinds of behaviors to help us what they might be getting out of this, what might be contributing to this behavior and what are some things we can do to make this much less likely to happen, rather than just trying to investigate and punish a particular kid," said Larry Spring, Schenectady City School District Superintendent.

In both instances, it was determined there was no real threat. Both law enforcement and school officials say they must take every one seriously.
