ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The 15th annual International Pickle Festival took place on Sunday. The sweet and sour event first started as just a small party, but has grown to a thousand people.

All the money raised every year is donated and this year, funds are going toward the pool fund for the Rosendale community. They had to close the pool last summer because it was deemed unsafe.

"It started as a party for some people coming from Japan and it was supposed to be a onetime thing and here we are in year 15 and we have 7,000 or 8,000 people," said event organizer Bill Brooks.

Event organizers say they've had inquiries from as far away as India, Bosnia and Lebanon. They've received entries from Kansas, Manhattan, North Carolina and New Jersey to right around the corner in New Paltz, Kingston, Ellenville and Saugerties.
