45th annual Gazette Holiday Parade in Schenectady
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Electric City celebrates the 45th annual Gazette Holiday Parade downtown Saturday night.
This year's parade theme was "the Magic and Myths." Thousands lined the streets to see groups of floats, marchers, and members of their police and fire departments in the spirit.
People say they the event is truly special, even if they come year after year.
"It's going good, I'm living in Schenectady since I was 13, I've been at every one of them, so it's always good, it's always good to be here"
"I can't wait to go like Christmas shopping, and Thanksgiving next week, I just, I'm excited for it, it's a great time of year, presents, and family and fun – it's great"
More than 100 groups marched down State Street, and awards were given out for the top seven best parade floats.
This event is one of the largest nighttime holiday parades in the Northeast, and is held every year the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
