CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- In the new 110th Assembly District, which includes Colonie, Niskayuna and the eastern edge of Schenectady, Democrat Phil Steck has claimed a decisive victory over Republican Jennifer Whalen.

Whalen nearly defeated retiring Assemblyman Bob Reilly back in 2010.

Steck, a four-term Albany County legislator, now moves on to the Capitol, where he'll be part of the democratic majority in the Assembly.
