MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Athletes and community members is Middletown kicked off their seventh annual 4K Run for Downtown on Saturday.

This year, however, the run is getting a little bit of a twist.

For the first time, an hour long Zumba event wrapped up the race on North Street. For those of you who don't know Zumba is a fitness program inspired by Latin dancing.

YNN's Christian Farrell was one of the 400 hundred people that stepped off in the 4K run that has raised over $15,000 over the last six years.

We spoke with the co-director who says this is the largest turnout in the event's history

"This race is gonna become a focal point for Middletown, New York. When the runners finish, the walkers finish and the Zumba is done, we've got two bands that are coming and they are gonna be playing. We've got the taste of the town's, we've got 16 area restaurants. We're gonna be sampling their food. We've got local breweries who are gonna bringing out some their beer, wineries that we bringing out some of their wine. We wanna make this event that everybody remembers and plans third Saturday in August be in Middletown," David Madden said.
