Traffic Alert: Construction begins on Alexander Hamilton Bridge
HUDSON VALLEY -- There's a traffic alert for drivers heading into the city on Monday.
A major three month-long construction project that started this weekend on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge could mean more traffic for drivers.
The bridge connects to the Cross Bronx Expressway, the main thoroughfare for drivers traveling from the Bronx, to the George Washington Bridge.
One eastbound lane of the Alexander Hamilton will be closed around-the-clock until October.
It's expected to cause big backups and heavy traffic on alternate routes like the Hudson River Tunnels and the Staten Island crossings. Crews will be working on steel reinforcement and deck replacement for the bridge.
