SARATOGA, N.Y. -- It may be in its 32nd year, but the Saratoga Race Course Open House never gets old. With Opening Day just around the corner, it is essentially the call to the starting gate for racing season.

Thousands turned out on Sunday for the yearly tradition. They showed up under the threat of storms, which is a testament to just how excited everyone is for track season. And what would an event at the race course be without a race? The steeplechase served as the first unofficial race of this year's meet.

There was also plenty of activities to get track attendees to start thinking of thoroughbreds, including pony rides, music, and food, and of course, the backstretch tours that gives patrons a glimpse at the inner workings of the race course.

"I look forward to coming every year to see the horses, hang out with family and make a day of it," said an Open House attendee.

As more trainers and horses begin to arrive for this year's meet, the excitement continues to build. YNN will have complete coverage of Opening Day starting with our Post Time Special later this week, and live coverage of Opening Day on July 20.
