Softball fundraiser to benefit Albany School District
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany Police Department, along with other local groups, hosted a softball fundraiser to raise money for the Albany City School District and AAU basketball. Along with the police department, the Albany School District, the No Rules Ryders Motorcycle Club and Turner Construction were all involved in the fundraiser.
In addition to the game, there was food, information booths, and kids activities throughout the event. The police department said that although the economy and many people are taking a hit, schools and children should not have to lose out.
"Obviously we're in a tough economy and we understand that everyone's struggling, the kids in this school district are very important to us in this community. They're our kids as well, and we just want to make sure that they have the money for extracurricular activities so we can keep them busy and off our streets," said Steve Smith, Albany Police Department Spokesperson.
