GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- Albany County District Attorney David Soares announced he has the endorsement of Albany County's Independent Party. Soares met with party chairman Paul Caputo on Saturday morning at the Guilderland Town Hall to make the announcement.

Soares is seeking his third term as Albany County District Attorney. After Saturday morning's announcement, he went door to door getting signatures from supporters. He said the problem areas that will get his attention if reelected include prescription drug fraud, cracking down on child porn and other cyber crime, as well as continuing to put the pinch on drunk drivers.

The Independence Part said Soares' track record speaks for itself.

"Putting your constituency ahead of politics. And that's something he has shown to do, in particular with his task force in investigating politics, we are very pleased with that," said Paul Caputo, Albany County Independence Party Chairman.

"My office and my candidacy in particular, I have demonstrated an independent streak. I don't go along to get along, and I think the Independence Party and the values they have, they value that quality about me as a candidate," said David Soares, (D) Albany County District Attorney.

Soares faces a competitive reelection flight from Democrat Lee Kindlon, a defense attorney and former military prosecutor.
