Former Siena stars Alex Franklin and Edwin Ubiles are both on the final roster for the Puerto Rican national team, but only Franklin will participate in the team's qualifier in Venezuela the first week of July. That's because Ubiles is taking part in the Atlanta summer league with the New Jersey Nets. So while the team is in Venezuela, Ubiles will be playing in the states.
If the Puerto Rican team can come in the top three in that 12-team tournament, they qualify for the London games and Ubiles will rejoin the team.
And he and Franklin are in good company. Also on the roster, JJ Barea, Carlos Arroyo, and Renaldo Balkman to name a few.
The U.S. and eight other teams have already qualified for the London games.
