COLUMBIA COUNTY -- The man who admitted to killing a 73-year-old Sunday school teacher has been sentenced to 20-years-to-life in prison.

Earlier this year, Shafiqul Islam admitted to strangling Lois Decker in her home in Hillsdale back in November. Police believe he killed her and then stole her car but later crashed it.

Two people who saw the crash stopped to help and they said Islam tried to steal one of their cars. He was arrested a short time later.

He pleaded guilty to murder and criminal possession of stolen property in May.
