NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Hours before Nik Wallenda took his first steps into history, a party in honor of the event started on Old Falls Street in downtown Niagara Falls.

"It's just exciting now, being here, and the atmosphere. It's a good feeling, good vibes," said Lorie Harding of Wheatfield.

The celebration had a festival-like atmosphere with a variety of tasty treats and exciting entertainment.

"Everyone is here to enjoy themselves, it's awesome," said a festival participant.

When it came time for Wallenda's Walk, people packed Old Falls Street to watch the event on jumbo screens, and said even if they could not see it in person, they still felt part of the special event.

"We actually saw him starting off, and I tell everybody they should once in their life come to see Niagara Falls," said Anna Casey who traveled from New Hampshire.

Those that we spoke with had such a great time and they hope to see more events like it here in Niagara Falls, soon and often.
