Corrections officers injured in assault
GREENE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Four corrections officers were injured in a violent assault at the Greene Correctional Facility.
Authorities say it happened on May 31st. They say a corrections officer removed inmate Darrell Hunter from other inmates when he became disruptive after leaving a transport vehicle. They say Hunter struck an officer in the face and then assaulted three other officers who responded to the incident. One officer suffered a concussion, while another was treated for a fractured elbow and shoulder injuries. The other officers suffered facial contusions and other abrasions.
Charges are expected to be filed against Hunter.
This is the third assault on staff in recent weeks at the facility.
