NATIONWIDE -- Saturday is National Get Outdoors Day, and to promote getting outside, many national and state parks will offer free admission.

The day is sponsored by non-profit organizations, federal agencies and the recreation industry. It is all in an effort to get more people to try both traditional and non-traditional outdoor activities.

Nationwide, more than 130 free special events are also planned, including appearances from Smokey the Bear and free fishing lessons.
