MAYFIELD, N.Y. -- More details are released in the investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found along the side of a road in Mayfield Monday morning.
Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said the woman has been identified as Kathryn Alling, 45, of Mayfield. Her naked body was found by sanitation workers along Tyrell Road around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Her husband, Brent Scott Alling, 44, was taken into custody Tuesday. State Police have charged Alling with five violations of the vehicle and traffic law after he was stopped on State Route 30 and Christie Road. He is charged with a license restriction violation, unsafe turn/failure to signal, DWI - 1st offense, refusal to take a breath test, and a seat belt violation. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
Alling is a person of interest in the death of his wife, but the sheriff said he is not cooperating in the investigation. The sheriff also said Alling was previously charged with assault.
An autopsy was conducted, but a cause of death has yet to be determined. Toxicology results are pending.
"We still don't know whether or not her death might have been from natural causes or it may have been from an overdose of drugs," Sheriff Lorey said. "Toxicology screen will be back in a few weeks, and we'll know more then."
Anyone with information relating to the Allings is asked to contact the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
